A Blessing

May the Lord, who came to earth as a helpless babe, strengthen your resolve to be ready to meet him when he returns in glory.

Light Our Lamps

Deign to light our lamps, Christ, our sweet Savior, and let them burn forever in your temple, receiving unfailing light from your unfailing light and thus illuminating our darkness and dispelling the world's darkness from around us.

(From the Instructions on Compunction by St. Columban, Instruction 12, found in Benedictine Daily Prayer: A Short Breviary, p. 847)

Help Me Lead

Jesus, there are various ways in which I lead others, just as there are various ways in which I follow the leadership of others. Leadership like yours seems a lofty ideal. But there you were in your dusty sandals surrounded by men who misunderstood you more often than they understood - yet you led them with tenderness and strength and love. You put them before yourself. I want to learn to do that.
Amen

May God Arise!

May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
    may his foes flee before him.
As smoke is blown away by the wind,
    may you [O God] blow them away;
as wax melts before the fire,
    may the wicked perish before God.
 But may the righteous be glad
    and rejoice before God;
    may they be happy and joyful.

(Psalm 68: 1-3)

A Prayer of St. Patrick

I establish myself today in
The power of God to guide me
The might of God to uphold me
The wisdom of God to teach me
The ear of God to hear me
The Word of God to speak to me
The hand of God to protect me
The way of God to lie before me
The shield of God to shelter me
The hosts [angels] of God to defend me

Christ with me
Christ before me
Christ behind me
Christ within me
Christ beneath me
Christ above me
Christ at my right
Christ at my left
Christ in breadth
Christ in length
Christ in height

Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks to me
Christ in the ear of every man who hears me

Confident in Christ!

My Words, My Thoughts, My Work

Grant, O Father, I pray, that whatever I do in my words, my thoughts, or my work, I may do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to you and the Holy Spirit through Him. Amen.

If You Listen Carefully...

If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his sight, obeying his commands and laws, then I will not make you suffer the diseases I sent on the Egyptians; for I am the Lord who heals you.
